Milestones
in Recovery is an affiliate of Extended Care Treatment,
Inc. Specialized residential and partial hospitalization
programs are intended for adults with a primary diagnosis
of an eating disorder. The facility and program(s) are
accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation
of Heathcare Organizations (JCAHO) and licensed by the
Agency for Healthcare Administration.
Milestones’ primary purpose is to provide a comprehensive
program to address the specific needs of individuals
suffering with an eating disorder and the accompanying
mental health issues often associated with eating disorders/food
addiction. Providing a safe, structured, and effective
course of treatment, Milestones offers apartment-style
residences with 24-hour on-site support in addition
to a multispecialty team of professionals.
The Residential Complex affords an opportunuty to experience
recovery in a "real world" environment. Residents
participate in grocery shopping, meal preparation, and
daily activities to simulate the realities and challenges
of every day living. In effect, the last day in residence
and the first day home should not differ.
Located
nearby are the administrative and clinical offices.
The pharmacy, group rooms, clinical staff and administrative
offices are housed at this location. In addition, community
meetings are held weekly with residents and a member
of the clinical team at the apartments. The Milestones
house manager resides on-site at one of the apartments
within the complex.
Although residents may opt to bring their own vehicles,
Milestone’s provides transportation to all scheduled
activities. Residents also participate at local support
groups during the evenings and weekends: some of which
are "elective" meetings chosen by the individual
resident as part of their treatment plan.
Built into the program schedule are recreational activities,
therapeutic passes, and visitation by invited family
and significant others. Although visitors are not permitted
to enter the apartments, arrangements can be made for
visits off-site. As noted, residents who do bring their
vehicles are permitted to use them with staff approval,
and, usually when accompanied by another resident.
